First Research

First Research is a specialized market research database. It contains hundreds of continuously-updated industry profiles and also contains a large amount of economic information organized by country. This database can also be found on the Find dictionaries and encyclopedias page of the Library section of the Marianopolis website.

When searching First Research for your market entry project, go directly to the "International: Global Content" tab in the top menu. From there, you can browse through profiles for every country in the world by using the "Countries" menu. Each country profile included a wealth of economic, geographic and political information about the country.

Reliable online country data

Three are several government and independent bodies that collect and publish country data that may be of use to you, including plenty of up-to-date economic data. The following are some major online sources where you can access that data. You can also find these government websites, as well as other sources for government information and statistics, on the Find government documents page on the Library section of the Marianopolis website.

CIA World Factbook (Website)
Developed and maintained by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the World Factbook has a wealth of economic, geographic, and political information for countries around the world. Its information is meticulously researched and updated frequently.
INCORE Country Guides (Article)
INCORE, the International Conflict Research Institute, is a joint effort by the United Nations University and the University of Ulster. Its website aggregates resources on conflict and ethnicity specific to particular countries and regions around the world. This information can be useful for finding more about the stability of your target country for your market entry plan.
International Monetary Fund Data: International Financial Statistics (Website)
The IMF's Data site contains a sub-page of international financial statistics. This information is very up-to-date, and can be parsed by country, indicator, or query. For your purposes, the "country" option will give you an excellent financial overview of the target country of your market entry plan.
The World Bank: Countries Data (Website)
The World Bank maintains detailed data on countries around the world. This included economic data such as GDP, but also other important development indicators, such as school enrollment percentages or the percent of the population that lives below the poverty line.
